Rose Energy

We currently provide a Public Relations, Public Affairs and Event Management consultancy service for Rose Energy, the company behind plans to build a £100m biomass power plant fuelled mainly by poultry bedding in County Antrim.

From the outset we recognised the sensitivities surrounding this project.  Bearing in mind the concerns of those in close proximity to the proposed plant, we have advised our client to remain up-front and pro-active in its communications with this group, supplying them with accurate project information in order to address any misinformation and provide reassurance.

Our initial communications plan recommended the development of a brochure and a website to explain the project concept, both of which were developed and managed by Morrow’s.  We organised a press conference in January 2008 to formally ‘launch’ the company, inviting target media and generating a substantial amount of coverage and interest in the project.   At the same time letters were sent to over 5,000 stakeholders including local residents, politicians and business organisations.

Morrow’s carefully identified key stakeholder and interest groups and has facilitated meetings with a wide range of organisations and individuals as part of Rose Energy’s public consultation process.  As the project moves forward our ongoing communications activity has included the creation of company newsletters and the production of a DVD, all of which are proving to be essential communication tools in providing the facts and expert opinion on the proposal.

Rose Energy’s project has received a huge amount of support from the farming and business communities; however it has also faced a considerable amount of opposition from local residents. Our challenge has been to assist our client in maintaining an open and honest channel of communication with all target audiences, and paramount to this is our ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances and to offer innovative and well thought-out solutions.
