Morrow Communications was appointed by the Climate Change & Waste Management Division within the Department of Environment to undertake a communications audit and strategy development to support the current Waste Management Strategy.
Waste management is a broad cross-cutting issue, embracing policy areas relating to employment, investment and the economy; lifestyle and wellbeing; and energy and resources. We were tasked with delivering communications and PR advice to assist with the ongoing roll out of the Northern Ireland Waste Management Strategy (2006/2020).
Overall our approach is centred on bringing together stakeholders across Northern Ireland, increasing knowledge and understanding about Waste management issues and effecting behavioural change whether that be at a personal or at an organisational level.
It is based on developing a strong understanding of the DOE’s needs, their objectives and the challenges to meeting these, the overall context in which they operate, the correct messaging and audiences for this messaging, and the understanding, opinions and buy-in of key stakeholders, as well as a suitable reporting mechanism to collate the outcomes and recommendations at the end.
Alongside this we will be developing a new campaign website to support the Waste Management Strategy.
