As part of the Review of Public Administration in early 2007 the LGBC was required to review the current local government boundary areas. The review aimed to establish boundaries for and assign names to seven new local government districts. The 26 existing council areas were assigned to the newly created districts and further divided into individually named wards. Morrow Communications were appointed to organise a highly political press launch, followed by a series of public consultations in seven locations over two days.
As is often the case with events of this nature, we were quickly thrown into the deep end. We undertook a vigorous venue selection process ensuring suitable access and locations that would attract as many attendees as possible. We also tendered all audio-visual equipment including a robust microphone system that could record individuals’ points of view as well as give the Assistant Commissioner control over the order of the events. This system was then used to produce mp3 files for transcribing. We invested in a secure online system to transfer the data to the transcribers who were able to turn around the transcriptions within three days. Morrow Communications managed the on site registration process as well as assisting the LGBC with all delegate queries.
Morrow Communications successfully and professionally managed each of the seven events maintaining a strict sense of client confidentiality throughout. Feedback from the LGBC was incredibly positive, in spite of the decision not to accept the LGBC proposals at Stormont! Our in-house Communications team also leant their support in managing the PR campaign including media training for LGBC’s personnel and handling all interview requests.
