The Brief
The Seedcorn Business Competition, initiated by InterTradeIreland is the largest business competition on the island of Ireland offering an overall prize fund of €280,00 to support early stage and high growth companies in equity funding. The competition offers companies the opportunity to develop their business plans, raise their profile and boost their chances of further equity investment.
The Event
After a long judging process the competition culminates in a final ‘dragon’s den’ style investment pitch and a gala awards ceremony to celebrate the regional winners’ achievements and announce the overall category awards. Morrow Communications were engaged, as part of our ongoing event management contract, to deliver all aspects of the final judging and awards ceremony.
As the Seedcorn Awards have been running since 2001, over the years it had turned into a long event with nine regional categories (each with a video case study to show), presentation of the final two categories (with winners speeches), judges’ speeches and an after dinner speaker on top of a drinks reception and dinner! Our main task was to shorten the running time and deliver a slick and dynamic event.
We achieved this objective by recommending a different format than previous years, reducing each video piece by a few minutes, changing the order of speeches, together with delivering the tight programme, which guaranteed the event finished on time.
The Result
Morrows successfully managed and delivered a professional awards ceremony for over 200 guests in Belfast in 2010 and Dublin in 2011. We provided a comprehensive event management service to our client including event design, set & staging concept creation, venue management, stage production, briefing and scripting the host, administration of invites and responses, venue liaison, and provided a dedicated event production team on the day. Morrows in house production team also filmed and edited nine company case studies and produced a post event highlights DVD which was distributed to all attendees.
