The Brief
The objective of Invest NI’s inaugural Design Conference was to increase awareness of the business benefits of design to NI industry, encouraging companies to consider design in all aspects of their businesses, from product through to brand. Morrows were briefed to source a suitably innovative venue, a number of inspirational speakers from all sectors of the Design world and project manage the full event from concept to reality. This event presented a huge operation incorporating two sessions of top class speakers, catering breaks, appointment matching and managing more than 200 delegates on the day ensuring their experience was maximized to the full.
The Execution
Morrows set to work in securing a suitable venue for an event of this nature, namely the innovative W5. We worked alongside Invest NI’s Design service to suggest commendable speakers for the event securing a sterling line-up featuring Wayne Hemingway, one of Britain’s most acclaimed designers, Dan Germain, Creative Director for Innocent Smoothies and Sebastian Conran, award winning Managing Director of Studio Conran. The conference was divided into a morning and afternoon session covering various areas of design giving delegates the opportunity to attend sessions that were of most relevance to them as well as have the time to network and avail of the free design advice clinic which ran throughout the day. We implemented a bespoke “Design Clinic” building booths in which delegates could discuss their needs privately with Invest NI.
The Results
This inaugural conference was a resounding success. The subject matter, caliber of the speakers and stimulating nature of the venue meant that the event was fully subscribed within a matter of weeks with a long waiting list in operation. With so much activity taking place throughout the day it was imperative that a tight, professional operation was in place. Morrows event team are incredibly close-knit colleagues who excel in pulling together to ensure maximum results which was no exception in this case. Feedback was incredibly positive with delegates having been impressed by the organization, inspired by the excellent speakers and benefitting from the opportunity to network with like-minded contemporaries. The conference is set to make a welcome return in 2010 and is expected to be bigger and better than before.
